The Hothouse

Both of these are painted from a couple photos I took at the Lincoln Park Conservatory. My second favorite hothouse in Chicago...not including the Hothouse music club which doesn't count since they shut down.

I think this painting pretty much speaks for itself quite nicely.

This was a fine painting to do as an alternative to watching TV.

This is one of my cats, Louie, he feels the art is taking up too much of my time.

This fine holiday card is for Mercy Housing 2008. The wonderful folks down there selected one of my humble little watercolors for the front. The original work is approximately 9" x 12".

This is an older oil painting (2005) from Columbia College days.

Here I am next to the star of the show. This is the painting I donated for the Mercy Housing 25th anniversary gala last May at Chicago's Union Station. It sold for $1100! That came as a surprise to me. The first painting I ever sold...and for a worthy cause nonetheless. The painting was acrylic on grasscloth and mounted on a door from the Home Depot. The title was "Out of the Subway, Into the Light".

This was a little experiment I did with the left over palette paint over a period of time...then glossed it over....for posterity.

Ground-Breaking Speech

Here I am making a pre-written (just for me) speech at the groundbreaking event.

This is the prop I made for the Mercy Housing groundbreaking ceramony. The names of donors and benefactors were painted in the blank areas.

During the event the wall was set up with the backside facing the audience. It was then knocked down, by my self and Diedre, and then reassmbled "brick by brick" by the attendees calling out the names on each. I t was a fine alternative to the same old golden shovel...in my own humble opinion.

This painting is from 2005 when I was still attending Columbia College. And I still like it. While I usually slack on naming paintings, my Mother has kindly suggested "Root Beer Blues", and so it shall be.
